armory in the Bible
also known as: armoury
An armory or arsenal is a place in which armor and weapons (arms—the various tools of war) are deposited when not used (Neh. 3:19; Jeremiah 50:25).
The word is used 3 times in the King James Bible, and 3 to 5 times in other translations (NKJV, NIV, NRSV).
In the early days, each Hebrew man had his own arms, because all men went to war. There were no arsenals for arms till the time of King David, who had a large collection of arms, which he consecrated to the Lord in his tabernacle (1 Samuel 21:9; 2 Samuel 8:7-12; 1 Chronicles 26:26-27).
