What is…
Ava
Hebrew: עִוָּה —transliteration: Ava, Avva, and possibly Ivah and Ivvah
This is an ancient city conquered by the Assyrians and from which Assyria brought colonies to Samaria. The spelling “Ava” is used only once in the King James Bible and New King James (2 Kings 17:24 KJV; 2 Kings 17:24 NKJV —compare 2 Kings 17:24 NASB “Avva”).
It is probably the same as Ivah (2 Kings 18:34; 19:13; Isaiah 37:13).
It has been identified with Hit on the Euphrates.
