Who is…
Barsabas

also known as: Barsabbas

Meaning: son of Saba

This was the surname of two biblical men.

  1. Joseph Barsabas, also called Justus

He was one of two candidates chosen to replace Judas Iscariot (Acts 1:23)

He was chosen to be an Apostle by casting of lots.

    Some identify him with Barnabas.

  2. Judas Barsabas, a New Testamentprophet

Nothing more is known of him than what is mentioned in Acts 15.

Then it seemed good to the apostles and the elders, with the whole church, to choose men from among them—Judas called Barsabbas, and Silas, leading men among the brothers—to send to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas, and they sent this letter by them…

So when they were sent away, they went down to Antioch; and having gathered the congregation together, they delivered the letter. And when they had read it, they rejoiced because of its encouragement. And both Judas and Silas, also being prophets themselves, encouraged and strengthened the brothers with a lengthy message. —Acts 15:22-32 excerpt

Then Judas Barsabas returned to Jerusalem.
