Betonimin the Bible
Hebrew: בְּטֹנִים —transliteration: bᵊṭōnîm or btoniym —pronunciation: bet-o-NEEM
This city is mentioned only in Joshua 13:26 and was a city of the Tribe of Gad, east of the Jordan River. Based on its location, it would have had good land for livestock and a strategically valuable placement.
The modern name is Batne (aka Khirbet el Batne, Khirbet el Batnah), 17 miles (27 km) west of Amman, Jordan, and 2.5 miles (4 km) southwest of As-Salt (Es-Salt) on Mount Gilead.
