Kenizzite

also known as: Kenezite

1. Kenizzite, the name of a tribe referred to in the covenant God made with Abraham (Genesis 15:19)

   On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying,

   “To your descendants I have given this land,
   From the river of Egypt as far as the great river, the river Euphrates: the Kenite and the Kenizzite and the Kadmonite and the Hittite and the Perizzite and the Rephaim and the Amorite and the Canaanite and the Girgashite and the Jebusite.” —Genesis 15:18-21 NASB

   They are not mentioned among the original inhabitants of Canaan (Exodus 3:8; Joshua 3:10), and probably they inhabited some part of Arabia, in the confines of Syria.

2. Kenizzite, a designation given to Caleb (Revised King James Version, Numbers 32:12; King James Version, “Kenezite”)
