It has been suggested that it may have been a suburb of Gath.
Some archaeologists believe that Tell Goded, Israel (aka Tell ej-Judeideh) is Moresheth-Gath.
Israeli leading archaeologist and and historical geographer Yohanan Aharoni believed that Gath is located at Tell ej-Judeideh, and that Gath and Moresheth-Gath are the same place. He places it near the Roman road 5 miles (8 km) from Eleutheropolis (Bayt Jibrin, Israel; or Beit Jibrin; Beit Guvrin-Maresha National Park) on the way to Diospolis (aka Lydda; Lod, Israel). He was chairman of the Institute of Archaeology at Tel-Aviv University.
