What are…
“worshippers”

The word “worshipper” appears 5 times in 5 verses in the King James Bible.

Old Testament

…the worshippers of Baal… —2 Kings 10:19 KJV

New Testament

One sacrifice of Christ is sufficient to cover our sins

For the Law, since it has only a shadow of the good things to come and not the very form of things, can never, by the same sacrifices which they offer continually year by year, make perfect those who draw near.

Otherwise, would they not have ceased to be offered, because the worshipers, having once been cleansed, would no longer have had consciousness of sins?

But in those sacrifices there is a reminder of sins year by year. For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. Therefore, when He comes into the world, He says,

“Sacrifice and offering You have not desired,
But a body You have prepared for Me;
In whole burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin You have taken no pleasure.
Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come
(In the scroll of the book it is written of Me)
To do Your will, O God.’”

—Hebrews 10:1-7 NASB

Idol “worshippers” in Ephesus

Greek: νεωκόρος —transliteration: neókoros

…the city of the Ephesians is a worshipper of the great goddess Diana, and of the image which fell down from Jupiter… —Acts 19:35 KJV

NKJV: “…temple guardian…”

The word translated worshipper (above) in the King James Bible, is actually “neókoros” which literally means a temple-sweeper. This was a temple-keeper of warden and was an honorary title for “one who sweeps and cleans a temple or one who has charge of a temple, to keep and adorn it.”

True worshippers of God…

Greek: προσκυνηταὶ —transliteration: proskunétés or proskynētai

…the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. —John 4:23-24 KJV

…if any man be a worshipper of God… —John 9:31 KJV
