God Delivers

I WAS addicted to sex.

Cigarettes. I WAS addicted to cigarettes for 30 years. I couldn’t live a day without cigarettes—my minimum was 5 sticks a day.

BUT I say that the power of the Holy Spirit is fantastic. We must also have the will to want to do it.

I am in my mid-40s and I have never experienced so much freedom that the LORD has given me. My family is happy and my business is prospering—praise the LORD.

I have been a Christian for 3 years. Here is how I did it.

“So I advise you to live according to your new life in the Holy Spirit. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves” —Galatians 5:16 (NLT)

Whenever I am under temptation I pray to the Lord Jesus, “fill me with Your Holy Spirit so that I will not gratify the sinful nature of the world.” I know sin is very delicious, but I know that sin is also very degrading—you have a CHOICE! The minute you have had enough of sin, turn your back to sin and face Jesus face to face and pray and be determined to change. Keep facing Jesus every day.

This is what I have been doing for the past 3 years—I pray every morning. I did not know how to pray, but just pray from your heart and speak to God as you speak to a FRIEND. I read the bible every day—one chapter a day which doesn’t take much time—10 minutes. I am sure we spend more time watching TV! I have learnt to put God my top priority—over every area of my life—my sexuality, money, and I want to learn more and more of His goodness.

“Taste and see that the LORD is good. Oh, the joys of those who trust in him!” —Psalms 34:8 (NLT)

“Loving God means keeping his commandments, and really, that isn’t difficult.” —1 John 5:3 (NLT)

God is good!! His love endures forever. Amen.

Oh! One last thing. I have become addicted to Christian music. I used to like Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, etc. but now I like Hallelujah music like Delirious, Australia Hillsong and Michael W. Smith. Throughout my struggles I have found His Holy presence in His music and He has given me peaceful rest. GOD bless you.
