Here’s what the distributor says about their film: (from the producer) Joe Dirt is a janitor with a mullet hairdo, acid-washed jeans and a dream to find the parents that he lost at the Grand Canyon when he was a belligerent, trailer park-raised eight-year-old. Now, blasting Van Halen in his jacked-up economy car, the irrepressibly optimistic Joe hits the road alone in search of his folks. As his wandering, misguided search takes him from one hilarious misadventure to another, Joe finds his way to Los Angeles, where a shock-jock brings Joe on his radio show to insult him. “Joe Dirt” was an all out pretty good movie. It was funny most of the time, and I found myself laughing throughout the whole thing. Me being a teen, this movie is nothing compared to what I hear on an daily basis at school. I don’t go to a movie to see how gross it is, or how many bad words it uses, I go because I want to see a good movie. Hollywood just puts in all of the bad things because it is going for a certain age of people to sell this movie to. While I don’t recommend this movie to small children (they wouldn’t be able to enjoy some of the parts because they wouldn’t understand anyways), I think that most people can enjoy this movie. I think that this is way less offensive than other movies of this genre.

If you like Adam Sandler, “Austin Powers” or stupid crude movies in general, you’ll like this movie. Apart from the couple of scenes I was definitely offended by, it was a basically enjoyable movie. But it wasn’t knock down, roll on the floor funny or particularly inspired. One of my favorite movies of this genre that’s done RIGHT is “Tommy Boy”. That movie was hilarious, touching and much cleaner. I just haven’t liked much David Spade has done since he (and we) lost Chris Farley.

I’ve just recently seen this movie and on a scale of 1 to 10 I’d rate it at about a 6½. To me the plot was pretty good and there were some humorous moments. There was some objectionable language such as the a-word several times and the s-word several times. My main reason for seeing the movie was that it is rated PG-13. I’m not sure if I had kids I’d take them to see the movie. There is some sexual innuendo but less than the average Hollywood movie. Overall, I wasn’t too impressed and probably wouldn’t see it again.

This movie was extremely funny, but also extremely crude. There were many offensive sexual jokes and there were lots of gross-out scenes. Strictly for those who are 15 and over. Although this movie had its offensive moments, it was funny. There was one scene which spoofed “The Silence of the Lambs” that could only be considered as flat-out hilarious. Take caution before you see this one, though, and do not take small children. I regret taking my twelve year old sister to this flick.

Aside from the parts that I sat back in my seat and said, “When is this movie going to be over?”, I guess there is not much else to say. I was morally grossed out at at least four different parts in the picture. I haven’t decided what was more disgusting, the way “Joe” treated some of the women he encountered or the “strange man” he met who had an “altenate lifestyle.” The main flow of the movie is actually pretty unrealistic and has a comical streak that only a six year old could appreciate.
