This film is not for someone looking for a simple study of religion and killers. This movie is a nail biting endurance test in the vein of “Seven”, but with a different approach.
The movie is about a Louisiana detective, not liked but respected by his peers, with a tragic past. Sound familiar? That’s Christopher Lambert’s usual role but in this movie he does a good job on performance, keeping you worried with him. The killer he’s trying to catch is taking a body part from his victims when he leaves them to die. If you can see past the disgust and shock value of the film and think about your Biblical history you may figure out why before Lambert does; I did, and it made the film very interesting.
The movie is very graphic, yet interesting and stylish. But even if you have a strong stomach for violence, there is a scene near the end of the movie in an apartment that made my wife turn away and almost not finish the movie. Be ready when Lambert covers his mouth and is staring in utter disgust, you’ll see it next.
