Positive—I have never had such mixed feelings about a movie. On one hand, this movie is a foul, gritty cop drama that has f- and s-words littered constantly throughout, extreme violence, and graphic depictions of drug use. But on the other hand, it is a powerful, gripping film about two cops (Ray Liotta and Jason Patric) on the Detroit Narc Squad going about the investigation of a murder in unorthodox ways. Both cops, in my opinion, are good men, but they are forced to uphold and enforce the law in a world of violence and mayhem. Thus, many times they resort to aggressiveness and cruelty to do the job. I cannot recommend this film to anyone who might be strongly offended by the content mentioned above. Being a Catholic, it was hard for me to listen to constant profanity, but it only detracted from the movie, instead of ruining it completely.
