“Greed is good. Sex is easy. Youth is forever.”

Here’s what the distributor says about their film: “Published in 1995, the collection of loosely connected short stories The Informers captures a week in L.A. in 1983, featuring movie executives, rock stars, a vampire and other morally challenged characters in adventures laced with sex, drugs and violence.”

Editor’s Note: Bottomline—This extremely offensive movie is definitely one for followers of Jesus Christ to avoid. We will not be screening this film. Be warned of the following content: drugs (cocaine, heroin, etc.), drunkenness, graphic sex, debauchery and orgy, underage sex, gay sex, bisexual and premarital sex, strangulation, male rear and frontal nudity, female rear and frontal nudity.

…If “The Informers” doesn’t sound to you like a pleasant time at the movies, you are right. To repeat: dread, despair and doom. It is often however repulsively fascinating and has been directed by Gregor Jordan as a soap opera from hell, with good sets and costumes. If he finds no depths in the characters, well, what depths are there?…
Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times
…It’s a terrible muddle unless you take it as a satire on the Age of Ellis, the Jacqueline Susann for that Flock of Seagulls era. That way, the unintentional laughs seem almost ironic. … [Director] Jordan… wallows in it all, treating himself to as many shots of a topless Amber Heard as he can manage. …
Roger Moore, Orlando Sentinel
…The performances run the gamut from twitchy to catatonic, and the stoned stiffness of the actors seems to have less to do with the affectlessness of the characters than with their own confusion. … It has nudity, sex, drug use and violence. And it’s still boring.
A.O. Scott, The New York Times
…director Jordan… is unable to wrangle any meaning from or raison d’être for his onscreen sybarites. …Not a single one offers us a reason to care—and without interesting camerawork or a plot to keep this thing moving forward, “The Informers” sinks back into the muck, like the La Brea Tar Pits in the town it calls home.
Marjorie Baumgarten, The Austin Chronicle
