“What About Bob?” is a tremendously funny movie, and while it has a few instances of profanity, I would recommend it to teens and adults.
“What About Bob?” is the story of a very paranoid, schizophrenic man, Bob Wiley (Murray), and his relationship with his therapist, Leo Marvin (Dreyfuss) (and much to Leo’s chagrin, Bob’s relationship with Leo’s family as well!). Bob is afraid of everything, especially germs.
When Bob’s therapist goes on vacation, it’s too much for Bob to bear, so he decides to hunt Leo down and join him and his family in New Hampshire. Needless to say, Leo is unhappy about this. Leo’s family, however, falls in love with Bob. This fact irritates Leo even more, and he becomes determined to get rid of Bob. The many interesting ways he does this are entertaining.
There are a few instances of profanity. There is no nudity. Leo does try to blow up Bob with dynamite; the explosives serve a very different purpose in the end. Other than this attempted murder, there is no violence in the film.
