bonds in the Bible

A bond is a binding obligation of any kind.

If a man makes a vow to Yahweh or swears an oath to bind himself with a binding obligation, he shall not violate his word; he shall do according to all that proceeds out of his mouth. —Numbers 30:2 LSB

But if her husband indeed annuls them on the day he hears them, then whatever proceeds out of her lips concerning her vows or concerning the obligation of herself shall not stand; her husband has annulled them, and Yahweh will pardon her. —Numbers 30:12 LSB

The word can also refer to oppression, affliction or physical chains or fetters.

O Yahweh, surely I am Your slave, I am Your slave, the son of Your maidservant,
You have loosed my bonds. —Psalm 116:16 LSB

Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace. —Philippians 1:7 KJV
