This is the name of a pre-Flood patriarch, the third son of Adam and Eve (Genesis 4:25; 5:3).

His mother gave him this name, “for God,” said she, “hath appointed me [i.e., compensated me with] another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.”

He was a pre-Flood patriarch, also known as Sheth.

Seth had unnamed and unumbered sons and daughters (Genesis 5:7). The key son in his partiarchal line was Enos, born when Seth was 105 years old. Seth died at the age of 912 years.
