Negative—I thought that Scary Movie 3 on dvd was a waste of money. The scenes in the movie were very offensive, and the acting was not that good. There was a lot of nasty remarks that were uncalled for. …real offensive and there was no need to have the profanity in the movie either. I don’t think that parents with small children or teens or adult should’nt be buying this dvd. I would’ve like it, if the movie company who made this movie would’ve cleaned up the film itself…

Comments from young people
Neutral—This is NOT a movie for children. Adults who are able to understand satirical humor should enjoy it, because hopefully they know not to take any of it seriously. The most offensive things are the beating up of a corpse and a little boy constantly getting hit by cars and thrown out of windows and such. In context, one can see that this is only meant to show how ridiculous “horror movies” actually are, but children (and some immature adults even) tend to take everything literally and should probably skip this one.

Negative—I think that this movie was stupid. It was a waste of money and time. It was not as funny as they made it out to be. …save your money. …It makes priests look bad, and it is adult humor.
My Ratings: [Offensive/3]
Jasmine Singleton, age 17
Positive—It was very funny. Not as crude as the other 2 scary movies. A little crude humor, but it was very funny… I liked it a lot.

Negative—This movie was horrible. I didn’t see all the movie, I walked out in the middle of it. This movie was so crude, NOTHING was OK! Don’t waste your money, EVER on this movie…

Jennifer, age 17
Positive—This movie is one of the funniest movies I have ever see. I love this movie. There are some rude things but even some of them are REALLY funny. The end of the scene where the main character picks up her cousin was priceless. That was just hysterical.

Cody, age 14
Negative—The movie was offensive, and the humor was lacking.

Positive—Scattered laughs through-out. Certainly, not for kids (-12), but at least David Zucker brings an element for the teenagers. Not as crude or immitatable as Scary Movie 1 or 2, which makes this more watchable. “Racist talk” and “hate speech” in this movie is only spoofing the “racism” and “hate” with their spoofs of “8 Mile.” Does just realising that a person is black make you racist? The “N” word is only used less than 5 times by black people, and not very noticable if you’re paying more attention to the humor. Back to the hilarity, the “Naked Gun”-style humor brings a new style to the series that you basically only get if you’re under 18 and have seen “Signs” and “The Ring.” Recommended…

Movie Critics
…completely outshines “Scary Movie 2”—which, unfortunately, is like comparing a nightlight to a 30-watt bulb… laughs are so far apart and offer so few comic calories that it might be time to stick a fork in the franchise
Robert K. Elder, Chicago Tribune
…“Scary Movie 3” understands the concept of a spoof but not the concept of a satire…
Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times
…Time and again, the movie (which parodies lots of other flicks) sets up a spoofy situation that looks like it’s gonna be comedy gold, but it can’t manage a punch line…
Phil Kloer, The Atlanta Journal Constitution
…This is comedy at its worst… some gross-out material and various indignities are performed on a corpse …a colossal waste of time.
James Berardinelli, ReelViews
…isn’t very funny…
Peter Hartlaub, San Francisco Chronicle
…severed body part… various instances of crude humor (an animal defecating, fart and pee jokes, various instances of vomiting, etc.)…
ScreenIt!
…reverts to crude language and bathroom or sexual humor to get laughs…
Shaun Daugherty, Preview Family Movie and TV Review
…Punch lines wink at promiscuity, voyeurism, adultery, homosexuality, oral sex, self-gratification, threesomes, bestiality and sex-change operations…
Bob Smithouser, Plugged In
…the film descends quickly into a slew of rapid fire sexual jokes and innuendoes… cheap and unrewarding
Michael Elliott, Movie Parables
…the comedy burns out quickly after the first half hour… The rest of the time we grope our way through excessive slapstick violence, sexual dialogue, innuendo, and just plain tastelessness. For instance, when a man’s wife is dying from being cut in two by a truck (a la “Signs”), her husband asks a police officer if he can still have sex with her bottom half
