Chesalon
also known as: Chaslon, Chasalon, Kesalon, Kasla (modern name), Kesla
Meaning: strength; confidence
Chesalon is an ancient landmark town on a hill on the border of the Tribe of Judah, on the side of Mount Jearim (Joshua 15:10). It is about 10 miles from Jerusalem. There are various springs in the area and the Kesalon stream below.
Then the border turned about from Baalah westward to Mount Seir and continued to the slope of Mount Jearim on the north (that is, Chesalon) and went down to Beth-shemesh and continued through Timnah. —Joshua 15:10
It was originally a Canaanite settlement, now uninhabited and in ruins. Chesalon was a Jewish settlement during the Roman period in Israel
Archaeology
Chesalon’s site is near the modern city of Kasla (aka Kesla), on the western mountains of Judah.
Remains of many walls, large cut and dressed stones (ashlar), and a shrine have been found.
