LIES and the Kingdom of Lies in which we live

also known as: lying, dishonesy, deception

“Put away from you crooked speech, and put devious talk far from you.” —Proverbs 4:24 ESV

Definition

A lie is an intentional violation of the truth. Lies are emphatically condemned in Scripture (1 Timothy 1:9-10; Rev. 21:27; Rev. 22:15).

Jesus Christ warned about liars and Satan.

You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies. —John 8:44

“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked.” —Jeremiah 17:9 KJV

The 9th commandment to the Israelites is,

“You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.” —Exodus 20:16 NKJV

“Lying lips are an abomination to Yahweh,But doers of faithfulness are His delight.” —Proverbs 12:22 LSB

“You destroy those who speak falsehood;
Yahweh abhors the man of bloodshed and deceit.” —Psalm 5:6 LSB

The Book of Proverbs says,

“An honest witness does not deceive, but a false witness pours out lies.” —Proverbs 14:5 NIV

“…better is a poor man than a man of falsehood.” —Proverbs 19:22b LSB

Paul urged the Colossian Believers to always tell each other the truth,

“Do not lie to one another, since you put off the old man with its evil practices” —Colossians 3:9 LSB

Paul warned his friend Timothy of future deceits and lies,

“…the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons, by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron…” —1 Timothy 4:1-2 NASB

The end for unrepentant liars

Many people are continual, habitual liars—loving to lie and practice deception. The Book of Revelation reveals that these people will be excluded from Heaven.

Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the authority to the tree of life and may enter by the gates into the city. Outside are the dogs and the sorcerers and the sexually immoral persons and the murderers and the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices lying. —Rev. 22:14-15 LSB

Scripture prophecies the end judgment for unrepentant liars who reject Christ,

“For the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.” —Revelation 21:8 NASB

“Outside [of Heaven] are… everyone who loves and practices lying.” —Revelation 22:15 LSB

Satan, The Great Deceiver and his Kingdom of Lies

Jesus Christ said of the Devil,

“…He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” —John 8:44 NASB

Scripture calls Satan “the deceiver of the whole world” (Revelation 12:9). The book of Revelation also speaks of…

“…those of the synagogue of Satan, who say that they are Jews and are not, but lie…” —Revelation 3:9 NASB

  1. Man and the universe developed into existence on their own through some “scientifically” explainable processes.

  2. There is no Creator; God absolutely does not exist. He is a figment of human imagination.

  3. There is no clear evidence for a divine being, therefore no such being probably exists, although one can’t be absolutely sure. Based on everything humanity knows, it seems best to live our lives with the assumption that no god exists.
